Sellers Union College is the internal talent development organization of Sellers Union Group. With the concept of "The Best People Cultivate Better People", the College selects internal lecturers to participate in talent training, which vividly demonstrates the Group's core values of "Collaboration and Sharing". This article invited four outstanding lecturers to share their teaching experience.

01

Joe Zhao: Growing Up

at Sellers Union College

Sellers Union College witnessed the development of Joe. He completed the task with his rich business experience when giving his first lecture, but he lacked the control over the time and the proportion of the cases. In order to improve his course quality, he repeatedly selected the suitable cases and built frameworks during the course preparation, patiently listened to the professional advice of the listeners during the trial lecture, and adjusted the outline logic, lecture rhythm and overall content at any time. A lecture is usually polished many times before it is finally formed. Last year, Joe overthrew the framework and rebuilt it twice during the course preparation, combined the systematic theory with vivid cases in the final lecture. The lecture was interesting and won unanimous praise. Joe won the title of "Outstanding Lecturer of the Year". He said that although lectures take a lot of time, this is a good opportunity to sort out business knowledge and experience, so that he can have more confidence to teach trainees and train new team members.

Nolan Hu: Putting the Problem

at The Forefront

Nolan hopes that his courses can help trainees avoid problems. When preparing for the supplier maintenance advanced course, he first got to know the basic situation of the trainees, and then asked the purchasers in the team who had similar situations about their problems. He dug and expanded theoretical knowledge in a problem-oriented manner, added fresh and interesting case stories around him, and creatively increased his own negative practices when communicating with suppliers.

Nolan emphasized that failure cases are often more impressive. Showing previous mistakes he has made can help students understand and deal with common problems in the procurement business. Avoiding problems is more important than solving them. Last year, he got 100% satisfaction in his first business course and finally won the "Teaching Benchmark Award" with his humorous and friendly teaching method and useful knowledge.

03

Pete Wu: Situational

Simulation Teaching

Pete pays more attention to restoring real business situations when teaching. With the help of the College colleagues, he collected the needs of trainees and found that they paid more attention to the application of skills in specific conditions. Therefore, he adopted the situational simulation teaching method, and played the roles of "purchaser" and "supplier" with trainees. He restored the inquiry and quotation process through the question and answer and guided the trainees to communicate with the "supplier". In this way, He imparted his own purchasing experience and skills to trainees. Trainees also shared about how they communicate with suppliers in their work, which had unexpected effects.

The courses collected the wisdom of lecturer and trainees, which had good overall atmosphere and feedback. Finally, Pete won the "Teaching Benchmark Award", and he has more confidence in the future course development and teaching at Sellers Union College.

Shirly Du: Promoting Efficient Work with Cooperative Thinking

Shirly takes teaching self-recognition and practical effective contents as the principles. In 2019, she came into contact with cooperative thinking while studying external courses, and began to try to think and act in a way that others are willing to accept, thus changing others' thoughts and actions. After a period of time, she found that this way was very helpful for finding the balance between each other and promoting work efficiently. In the past, she was embarrassed to ask the partners for requirements, but now she can also initiate effective communication based on the community perspective, and work with suppliers to find a feasible way to solve the problem, which has greatly increased the efficiency.

In this way, she developed the course and recommended the cooperative thinking to other colleagues. Last year, she introduced the case of cooperative thinking that has been practiced for three years and has achieved remarkable results into the order-follow-up and gave a lecture to guide everyone to be familiar with products, processes, customers and suppliers, and communicate in an executable way between customers and suppliers to meet customers' requirements for products and achieve order delivery objectives. Finally, she won the "Teaching Benchmark Award". She hopes that everyone can flexibly use cooperative thinking in their work, explore their own advantages and achieve win-win cooperation. She believes that cooperative thinking can also help colleagues to better communicate in their life.

Lecturers of Sellers Union College explore trainees’ needs, impart their past experience and wisdom with highly responsible and open sharing attitudes, help trainees improve their abilities, and better serve their partners, and jointly promote the stronger development of Sellers Union College.
